About

In 1994, Ron Caliri created X-treme Silkscreen & Design, Inc, in a one-car garage using a small second-hand manual press. At the beginning, the Salem (MA) company created T-shirts for the Salem, Massachusetts, Fire and Police departments, Salem High School, and several local sports teams.

As X-treme’s reputation grew, so did the number of orders! X-treme outgrew the garage (and the neighborhood) and moved to a 1500-square foot office on Broadway in Salem. Shortly thereafter, another move was necessary, this time to a 2,500-square foot facility to accommodate the rapid growth.

When the American Cancer Society heard of X-treme, with their creative new designs and competitive pricing, they placed an order for 50,000 pieces for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. The order stressed the five employees and one-year-old location to the limit, but it was completed on time and on budget.

In 2000, a new line of Salem tourist designs and a 125,000-piece order for The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life forced yet another move, this time onto Salem State’s Central Campus. This brand new, 5,000-square foot facility at the Enterprise Center was just what X-treme needed. The synergy with the Small Business Incubator Program (a collaborative arrangement between Salem State College and Congressman John Tierney) created a nurturing program of seminars and support groups.

Then, in 2001, T-shirt orders for the Champion New England Patriots initiated yet another growth spurt, bolstering annual sales to over $1.25 million. Misreading two front-page articles in the Salem News the week before the game, highly excited Patriot fans who thought that shirts would be sold from the shop swarmed the parking lot at Salem State Central Campus. Laurie Barton, Executive Director of  Salem State’s Enterprise Center, came in to help at 12:45 am after the big game. (X-treme hired 24-hour police details to maintain order around the shop. Kudos to Officer Ryan Davis of the Salem Police and Campus Police at Salem State for calming the growing mob of 300 plus.)

After several World Series Red Sox Championship orders and another taste of Super Bowl success, it was time for X-treme to graduate from the Incubator program at Salem State. In 2005, we moved to our current 6,500 sq. ft. facility at 16 Mt. Vernon Street in Lynn, MA. With fully-automated silkscreen equipment and 28 embroidery heads, we have successfully grown to be the largest shop on Boston’s North Shore.

We currently provide all logo apparel for New England Swimming events, including T-shirts, hoodies (sweatshirts) and swim bags.
